How about this for a conspiracy... they detonate a few, powerful "quake bombs" near known tectonic hotspots, thus shifting known oil reserves. If they control a nearby nation, to their oil reserve benefit; then the reward might be quite rich!

I said it first, but I didn't say it! Forget everything you've been told!

Peace on Earth!

Happy Holidays people!

Anna, I think they must have very simple reasoning skills, ala: It is not uncommon for ill people to believe that there is a poison in the food/water/air. Therefore, anyone who won't eat bacon that does not need to be refrigerated must be crazy.

If paying attention to what you consume/are exposed to is crazy, count me in.

I was told about the Iran quake by a friend this morning. I looked in the paper, nothing. I watched 30 minutes of CNN, nothing. I went to bbc news online and finally found some information. The story came up on CNN after 40 minutes, and didn't even seem to be a headline story. What were headline stories? A man killing his two kids, a mudslide, GI's attacked, and what the president did for christmas. Oh, and he is monitoring terror reports.

Christmas was good. I spent it with Anna Goss' familly in Oceanside. Ate too much, but had fun. Since it is on my mind (I did some 'COMPUTAR TEk WERK' for people at christmas), anyone running windows should really download, install, run the update, and do a scan of adaware. The amount of malicious software out there is insane.

The Christmas truce.
New pictures every week from Drew Perkowski. Some nice photos.
Interesting flash site.
Voice over IP info for people wanting to check it out for home.
Weaker clean air rules blocked. Cool.

Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On!

BAM! And that's not a quote from Emeril! I meant to reply to your, "...I live in a state that's sliding into the ocean..." comment Jimmy. I guess we both knew that. Which was why it was sorta ironic that I made such a big deal over our (Virginia's) 4.5 tremor. Then you guys had a bad one! And thenPanama and El Salvador. Now to the casual observor, it might appear to be a tectonic chain reaction. But I suspect something far more sinister! I believe that they've created the "Quake Bomb!" In fact I suspect that Reagan may have had it, which was part of the "Star Wars" threat to Russia. During that period there were several Eastern block quakes. Was it Armenia, Romania(?), which had a large one. Maybe the "Star Wars" name is misdirection, keeping conspiracy theorists away from second guessing the truth. It's really "Quake Wars" that the Russians feared. Then the mind is reminded of "Quake" a computer game engine, recently made popular by the "Doom" crowd. Coincidence? Well, maybe, but jumping to wild conclusions is fun! And who knows, truth is often stranger than fiction. Why? Because humans can't imagine all of the variables of reality. "Nothing new under the sun?" The Jews brought down the walls of Jerico by playing horns in the Old Testement. Maybe the statement suggests the question, "Nothing new under the sun to whom?"

Oh this is too silly!

Peace on Earth!

I'm called a crazy person all the time, and I don't even live in the woods or grow my own food. It's amazing the kind of reactions people unfurl upon someone who simply omits certain foods. If I were allergic, it would be socially acceptable, but because it's a choice, it's lunacy. Since when is discernment a sign of insanity? You would not believe the things people say to me about it.

Ah well...I'll be away for about a week...I'm going to New England. All I can say is: brrrrrrr. Happy holidays everyone and I'll see you in 2004!

Canada had one cow that never came close to making it to the food supply (very well could have been from the US) and the US banned all beef from Canada. The US finds it and suddenly its not all that bad, don't worry about it.

They claim they don't feed cows to cows. This seems to say they still do.

It is caused by screwed up protien atoms (prions). Pretty nasty stuff. Its quite shocking to see how much bone meal (a potential transport for prions) is used - bleaching of sugar, fertilizer for veggies, etc. Not a whole lot of ways to be 100% safe other than to be a crazy person, run out to the woods, and grow your own food. Prion info here

It was only a matter of time.
The only shocker here is that they admit it.

The report I heard on NPR was a little off in my opinion. They said you can only get the disease by eating the brain or spinal cord of the infected cow, and that this particular cow's brain and spine were sent to the rendering plant instead of into food production.
Um, people! The rendering plants produce the rendered cow feed. He also said that feeding cows reconsitituted cow is banned in this country, but I personally don't believe that.

Stay tuned, I don't think it's going to be the last mad cow around these parts.

Who could ask for a better xmas present; prions! ALL BEEF 80% OFF!

More info here. "This incident is not terrorist-related," Veneman said Tuesday. "I cannot stress this point strongly enough." Hahah. Damn that osama for forcing me to feed my cows parts of nasty dead cows.

PS John Titor was right, I'm getting my tinfoil hat.

Saw whale rider this weekend on dvd, liked it.

Also saw Marooned in Iraq. Liked it as well. Parts of it felt like we weren't getting the full translation, but the director interview on the dvd was very good. He said that he shot all of his movies about the Kurds in the winter, because the audience would be distracted by the beauty of the countries (Iranian and Iraqi Kurdistan in this movie) if he filmed in the spring or summer. He thought people would not believe the hardships if the characters were surrounded by beauty. The winter was beautiful, and I believed the hardships. Makes me want to see more of the countries.

Jimmy & I saw the movie in is in the center of a mall (they are all in malls here). They had us lined up outside, so we got to enjoy the xmas rush to the fullest - fun! I really don't like malls. The movie was pretty good, special effects were well mixed with the rest of it. Amazing that a studio let a little known director and fx company blow over 200 million on 3 huge movies, all at once.

We saw it at a 12:30 showing here in Glendale on the first night it was shown. When I reserved the tickets I didn't realize it was such a long film. We got home at 4:30am. Anyway, the theater was PACKED, and it was packed with JERKS. This is a prime example of why I hate Los Angeles. The theater employees tried to auction off a Matrix poster and a LOTR poster before the film started, for some charity organization. The fucking audience heckled them. Nobody would bid on the Matrix poster, instead they were yelling insults down at the theater people. Then, they tried to auction the LOTR poster and some guy "won" the poster for $30, but then didn't have the money to pay for it. The genius behind me screamed "DOOD! HE PLAYED YOU LIKE A FOOL!" as they asked the auction winner to please leave the theater. I guess they were pretty pissed at him. I was more pissed at the loudmouth behind me. When he wasn't yelling at the poster people he was bragging to his friend about his asshole treatment of the girls in his life. I won't be going to any more midnight showings of movies in this fucking city any longer. Spare me.
So yeah, the movie was pretty good. I don't remember that many battles in the book though. But I don't remember much about the book, silly brain of mine.
