Xiao Wei!!!

The most amazing thing...I'm at this poker party tonight and this girl was there. We were supposed to clean out our junk drawers and bring the junk to gamble it all off. There was some crazy shit in people's junk drawers...even a Playstation (which nobody wanted). Anyhow this girl has a big pile of zines, and I ask her how she gets them. "Oh I have my own distro."
"Cool! One of my best friends in the world does that out in Winchester MA. Have you heard of Fortune Cookie Distro?"
"Oh yeah! I just talked to her a few days ago."
"You're kidding me?"

She had gone about her own business at this point, not acknowledging that there was some kind of coincidence there. Then I said, "you don't even care, do you? This just seems like a major coincidence to me. I mean, she lives in the other side of the country and you and I both know her and yet this is the first time we're ever meeting."
"All us zine people know each other", she said dryly.

She's full of sass. Her distro is called 'Housewife Core'. Her name is Ari.

You'll be happy to know that none of your zines were in the pile. Only the "crappy ones". I won't mention any names since your community is so damned small.

Mytila was talking about going to that march.

Everything you sew, even if a mistake, is brilliant.

Watching Crumb now. Because for the third or fourth time in my life someone accused me of reminding them of Crumb. I was scared at first, thinking he was a monster, especially because one of those people also accused me of being sexist. The guy is perfectly human. There is a fine line between sexism and sexuality...attractive people can straddle this line and avoid the accusations.

Like everyone I'm sure, different people just bring out different things in one another. For example, Speck, when I'm around Alyssa I'm terribly quiet. Don't know why! She's so incredibly cool I just want to talk to her, but I end up sinking into the seat cushions. Kinda like how a deer might be confused when confronted with a brilliant pair of halogen moons hovering so close to the ground.

She sent me tons of her music...if you haven't heard it, IT ROCKS! Some of her friends have extremely impressive music too. And there's some weird connection she has to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Can't remember.

Wish I was in New York. I'd love to march on Washington, especially for such a good cause. It's so much my city, but it's just so big it scares the piss out of me sometimes.

I love visiting. There's hardly a place I feel more comfortable...but living there. Yeesh.

Cutty and I are going to NY tonight! I'm so excited! Hey Jaime- we'll be staying with Alyssa! wow, that's lots of exclamation points... So it's a bit of a whirlwind trip, we'll just be in NY for a couple of days to see some of my friends and then we're going down to D.C. on Sunday for the March for Women's Lives. I'm most excited about that as well. It's a huge reproductive rights march on washington to protest Bush and his anti-abortion policies. Most important these days with everything thats being done to chip away at Roe vs. Wade...

I was trying to sew a new dress for my trip, but it ended up looking like a bathrobe due to a poor choice of materials. It may be salvageable, but not before tonight. Ah, well. I do have the pink jackie o suit and some others to wear. Gotta dress to impress.
heh heh...

I was walking down my street on sunday morning and some sketched out dude called me "fucking jail bait"
har.
I'm 32! and a half!
jail bait, hardly.

Anyhoo, the Tenderloin is crazy and unpredictable, but it's also a swell place. It feels a bit weirder lately, but I think that's probably a direct result of the bad economy and troubled times that we live in... Ah, what to do, what to do.

.

You weren't kidding about the Tenderloin, Speck. It's sketchy. This is a view from my roommate Aaron's hotel room as he visited. At 2 am a riot spilled onto the streets from a bar. Looks like by this point it had been cleaned up.

He also said he was on the phone telling a friend that the Tenderloin was completely insane and unpredictable, and just at that moment two homeless women started punching one another in the face.

Good times.
